The Plot: In the Old West, a fireball shoots out of the sky and strikes the miner-husband (Jim McCullough) and son (Stephen Parker) of Ruth Cannon (Anne Gwynne). The husband dies, but the son, Charles, seems to recover. Over the years as the boy grows, however, he becomes hairy, ugly and stupid, occasionally killing sheep and cattle. Some years later, Ruth hits pay dirt with her hard work at the mine.
Moving into town with her son, (now portrayed by Gil Perkins) Ruth is befriended by Sheriff Bob (Stuart Wade). Ambitious waitress Kathy (Gloria Castillo) eventually learns of Charles' existence, and blackmails Ruth with threats of disclosure of her horrible son.Kathy gradually gain's Charles' trust, and has him kill a few people for her out of revenge. Eventually, Kathy goes too far; while they're out in the countryside, she tries to induce Charlie to kill his own mother, but he refuses and kills Kathy instead. Sheriff Bob arrives just then and shoots poor Charlie, who falls off a cliff nearby, allowing Sheriff Bob to get both his mother and her gold. TEENAGE MONSTER was the co-feature of BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS, a much better film. It was one of the few Western-horror films made; CURSE OF THE UNDEAD and even BILLY THE KID VS DRACULA were better and far more interesting pictures. (Plot derived from Bill Warren's excellent KEEP WATCHING TH SKIES volume 2 for MacFarland books.)
