TALES OF FRANKENSTEIN
Directed by Curt Siodmak; Anton Diffring (Baron Frankenstein), Don Megowan (the Monster), Richard Bull (Paul Helbert), Helen Westcott, Ludwig Stossel. "The Face in the Tombstone Mirror", in B&W. 1958.
Diffring is Baron Frankenstein and Don Megowan is the monster in this rare TV pilot. A retelling of the Frankenstein legend for a possible TV series that was not picked up by any network. Well done, with old-style laboratory scenes and a creepy graveyard setting.
Baron Frankenstein brings to life the creature he had kept wrapped up like a mummy. The brain was taken from a sick man, and being unbalanced, the monster turns on the Baron, then seeks the widow of the man the brain was taken from. In the final scenes, the monster stumbles into an open grave after seeing his reflection in a tombstone mirror. Written by Henry Kuttner and directed by Curt Siodmak. about 30 minutes.
