Back in the late 1950's, Hammer Film Productions Ltd. of England decided to re-interpret the Universal Classic horror movies,
but this time to film them in color, adding blood and eroticism. It was a different era and the classic creatures of old needed a different approach. On "B" movie budgets, they succeeded in turning out some of the best horror movies ever made.

THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN, EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN, FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN, FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED, HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN, FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL, TALES OF FRANKENSTEIN.

HORROR OF DRACULA, THE BRIDES OF DRACULA, DRACULA PRINCE OF DARKNESS, DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA, SCARS OF DRACULA, DRACULA AD 1972, THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA, LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES.

THE CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF, THE 2 FACES OF DR. JEKYLL, DR. JEKYLL AND SISTER HYDE, THE MUMMY, THE CURSE OF THE MUMMY'S TOMB, THE MUMMY'S SHROUD, BLOOD FROM THE MUMMY'S TOMB.

KISS OF THE VAMPIRE, THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, LUST FOR A VAMPIRE, TWINS OF EVIL, COUNTESS DRACULA, VAMPIRE CIRCUS, CAPTAIN KRONOS, VAMPIRE HUNTER.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, THE REPTILE, THE PLAGUE OF THE ZOMBIES, THE GORGON, HANDS OF THE RIPPER.

These movies were very popular with the public at large, and so the producers at Hammer Films Productions Ltd. decided to continue the stories of Victor Frankenstein and Count Dracula, making several sequels, mostly starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Hammer Films Prod. also produced the Karnstein Trilogy, Vampire thrillers, variations on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and original productions like The Reptile and Plague of the Zombies; they also produced science fiction movies (like The Quatermass trilogy), the prehistoric films, and suspense thrillers. Some of the movies will be given extensive coverage, other just the theatrical poster, cast and plot summary.
I hope those who browse my website will still enjoy the memories these movies gave you when you first encountered them on the large motion picture screen, TV or on video for the first time. I wont be able to please everybody but I think most fans of these films will enjoy this homage to them.
These classic movies introduced the world to stars Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Oliver Reed, Barbara Shelley, Hazel Court, Ralph Bates, David Prowse (later to play Darth Vader in STAR WARS), Veronica Carlson, Caroline Munro, Andrew Kier, Michael Ripper, Michael Gough (Alfred in the Batman films), and many others.
