A diary incriminating Count Dracula is found by Van Helsing in investigating the mysterious death of his friend, Jonathon Harker, apparently the victim of a blood-sucking vampire. Harker had gone to Dracula's Castle, posing as a librarian, but had planned on ending his "reign of terror".
Van Helsing finds that Harker's fiancee, Lucy, also has been attacked by a vampire. Lucy's brother, Arthur Holmwood and his wife Mina, join Van Helsing in attempting to track down the human monster.
Lucy succumbs, but Van Helsing is able to free her from Dracula's evil spell, by driving a wooden stake through her heart. Seemingly from out of nowhere, Dracula strikes again, this time attacking Mina and carrying her off with him. He heads for his Castle across the border.
Van Helsing and Arthur catch up with Dracula just as he is preparing a grave for Mina. Dracula seeks safety in the catacombs of his castle but Van Helsing forces him into a shaft of dawning sunlight...the only way in which Dracula can be killed.
Trapped in the beams of light, Dracula collapses and disentigrates. And with his passing, Mina comes back to the world of mortal men, freed for all time from the satanic power of the blood-lusting vampire. Considered by many the BEST Hammer Horror movie of all.
